SENIOR ACCOUNTANT

JOB DESCRIPTION

Review various tax returns for individuals, trusts, partnerships and corporations, including Form 1040, Form 1040-NR, Form 1120, Form 1120-S, Form 1041, and Form 1065 prepared by Staff Accountants. Train and mentor Staff Accountants on new tax code updates and accounting and software updates. Develop and expand the Asian and Pacific client business by conducting interviews and meeting with new clients from Asian and Pacific countries and identify and resolve tax issues for non-U.S. tax resident clients. Review and prepare required forms to fulfill business reporting requirement for Foreign Corporations and Foreign-Owned U.S. Corporations, including FinCEN Form 114, IRS Form 8938, Form 5471 and Form 5472. Assist with the preparation of quarterly and annual payroll tax returns, including Form 941 and Form 940, state unemployment insurance tax, Labor and Industries quarterly reports and other Washington state applicable quarterly payroll reports. Advise clients on how to minimize tax liability, inform clients of tax changes that affect their businesses, and ensure compliance with federal and state tax requirements. Prepare and compile financial statements with application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Statement on Standards for Accounting and Review Services (SSARS) standards. Assist clients through federal and state tax authority audits and notice letters, and obtain information from clients to prepare tax projections and to file quarterly estimated tax payments. Reconcile bank statements using Intuit Suite of software including Quickbooks and Quickbooks online. Provide accounting services to clients, including updating journal ledger and accounts entries using Intuit and Thomson Reuter CS Professional suite. Position will not directly supervise staff. Position may include additional duties that utilize the required skills.

 

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

The position requires a bachelor’s degree or foreign degree equivalent in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field, and two years of experience as a Staff Accountant, Accountant, or related role.

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

The two years of experience must include:

  1. 2 years of experience preparing tax returns for individuals, trusts, partnerships and corporations;
  2. 1 year of experience preparing quarterly and annual payroll tax returns, including Form 941 and Form 940, state unemployment insurance tax filings, and workers compensation reports;
  3. 1 year of experience preparing and compiling financial statements with GAAP and SSARS standards;
  4. 1 year of experience reconciling bank statements using Intuit suite of software including Quickbooks and Quickbooks online, or similar software, and updating journal ledgers and accounts entries using Intuit, Thomson Reuter CS Professional suite or similar software;
  5. 1 year of experience counseling clients on federal and state tax authority audits and notice letters; and
  6. 1 year of experience preparing tax projections and quarterly estimated tax payments.

The two years of required experience may include the 12 months of experience required for Washington state CPA eligibility. All experience may be gained concurrently. Must have or must be eligible for Washington state CPA licensure.

 

ANNUAL COMPENSATION

Salary range is $105,000/year-$130,000/year for full-time employment. Benefits include medical insurance and 401(k) retirement plan; Other compensation includes eligibility for bonus, professional dues, continuing professional education, and employee referral program. Paid time off includes 128 hours per year; 7 paid holidays per year; maternity leave, bereavement leave, and jury duty leave.
